Gita, who was born in India and raised in Boston, began her Marketing & Communications career 30 years ago when she went to work at Paramount Inc (US) to package, market and merchandise licensed products. She then went on to set up the marketing division of a start-up watch company in India called Titan Industries. The brand launch was a huge success, reaching sales of 2.8 million watches in its 3rd year of operations. She subsequently launched 2 other brands for Titan Industries, namely Raga & Tanishq. Gita moved to head up marketing for Maggie at Nestle India and worked actively to integrate the brand promise into the shopper experience, including the loyalty and engagement components.

Subsequently, Gita went to work for chinadotcom Corporation in HK for 6 years, jumping into the digital arena when the practice was still nascent. Then Gita moved to Leo Burnett in KL to lead Strategic Planning before joining the global initiative to create an integrated services agency globally within LB called Arc. This served as a platform for bringing together her Shopper and Digital Experience into a single proposition of end-to-end Customer Engagement. Activation, CRM, brand reputation and design were also integrated into the mix. Gita served in leadership roles for Arc in Malaysia, Greater China and Tokyo to bring this digitally enabled, integrated customer experience to life, working closely with clients to deliver on business KPI’s. Gita then moved to India for a few years to launch the world’s leading integrated communications planning consultancy, Naked Communications, in Asia before moving to Buenos Aires as the CMO & COO of Valuenet, a leading Salesforce partner in Latin America, working hands-on in the space of cloud-based CRM and loyalty.

She rejoined Publicis Groupe in Dubai in 2015 as a leader in Corporate Communications for the MEA region, developing internal materials and media stories in support of the ‘Power of One’ proposition. Gita then moved to Manila as Business Head of Arc Philippines, bringing her learnings to further improve Shopper Journeys & Consumer Brand Experiences by providing integrated communications solutions to solve business issues. Gita transitioned to the Publicis Groupe MY office in Jan 2020 as the COO, with a clear mandate to continue to drive the organization towards delivering the promise of the Power of One.

Most recently, Gita has taken on the exciting challenge of helming the marketing team at Taco Bell Malaysia. She was part of the team that launched the brand for the first time in the country in April 2021, and continues to support their ambitious expansion plans in that capacity. Gita has always believed that honing in on a Big Idea is key to approaching every project with a strong and innovative strategic plan, thus creating mutual attraction between the shopper and the brand for a sustainable relationship. She has worked with most major brands around the world and has a network of colleagues, mentors and teachers who ensure that she keeps her skill set constantly updated and relevant. As a mother, a wife, and a professional who has lived and travelled around the world, Gita believes that delivering exceptional integrated consumer experiences is the only path to long-term success.
