The Distinctiveness Choice

We don’t set out to be forgotten. Of course, we don’t. But being memorable takes commitment and continued effort.

With everything in culture craving your attention, mental availability has become our biggest challenge. In a world that is more distracting, brands have to be more distinctive than ever before.

But being distinctive is different to just being different. It is multi-layered, nuanced and demands a new way of measuring

The Distinctiveness Framework.

This is an inspiration session that demands we measure distinctiveness to drive memorability, because if they don’t remember you little else matters.

From developing distinct brand universes, and surrealist storytelling, to sweating on the small stuff this session will explore how distinctiveness will make you memorable.

I will cover the organising principles of distinctivity based on the latest academic studies and how you can apply The Distinctiveness Framework to your marketing. A framework adopted by some of the most culturally relevant, recognised and remembered brands on the planet like Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, Google and TikTok.

Outcomes:

The session is designed to stimulate fresh thinking and behaviours for those invested in content marketing, engaging with communities and influencer activities.

During the talk, I will outline:

  • The four key sources of distinctiveness
  • How you can measure distinctiveness through a framework
  • Deconstruct a wide range of brands indexing high in the distinctivity stakes
  • Provide 5 strategies you can adopt, adapt and apply to your marketing

Come and explore a framework for distinction so you can discover how you’re indexing against your competitors.

How influencers are transforming media strategy

In truth, media and brands are not thinking about influencers as humans. We want to fit them into boxes, metrics and dashboards with neat numbers to explain performance. But influencers are not a billboard or Ad-Buy, they are a Human Medium. They have relationships and history with the digital communities they have grown, and this means we need to shift our approach when activating with them.

This talk gives 3 key considerations teams can take away and apply in their daily thinking to transform influencer activations from one-off one-way transactions to long-term, impactful success.
