Cara is the Senior Social Media Community Advisor at AARP and based in Washington, DC. In her role, she manages the community engagement and content strategy for AARP’s enterprise social media accounts including overseeing the day-to-day operations of the editorial calendar and works across departments to integrate AARP website, magazine and event content within the larger social media strategy. Cara specializes in community building and management, employee advocacy, as well as social media trends, news and emerging channels.


Before AARP, Cara was the Social Media Manager for Destination DC, the official destination marketing organization for the nation’s capital, where she managed the organization’s consumer facing social media channels. Cara is a graduate of the University of Maryland where she received a degree in journalism.
